W dniu 27 maja 2007r. odbyły się uroczyste obchody 100 rocznicy powstania Ochotniczej Straży Pożarnej w Poniecu. Uroczystość rozpoczęła się mszą świętą w intencji strażaków, ich rodzin i zmarłych strażaków. Następnie w asyście orkiestry dętej przemaszerowano na Rynek, gdzie odbyły się główne uroczystości.

W trakcie uroczystości sztandar jednostki OSP Poniec odznaczony został Złotym Znakiem Związku Ochotniczych Straży Pożarnych RP.
Ponadto odznaczenia otrzymali druhowie:

  • Złoty Znak ZOSP RP – dh Stanisław Berger,
  • Medal Honorowy im. Bolesława Chomicza – dh Henryk Polaszek,
  • Złoty Medal za Zasługi dla Pożarnictwa – dh Petrów Krzysztof, dh Kędziora Zbigniew, dh Rosik Bolesław,
  • Srebrny Medal za Zasługi dla Pożarnictwa – dh Pierzchała Zdzisław, dh Spychaj Robert  ,
  • Brązowy Medal za Zasługi dla Pożarnictwa – dh Godziewski Ryszard, dh Kanikowski Tomasz, dh Matecki Tadeusz, dh Pisarczyk Robert, dh Sobkowiak Mateusz,
  • Odznakę Wzorowy Strażak – dh Kieliś Dariusz, dh Sibiński Piotr, dh Kistowski Janusz, dh Olejniczak Łukasz.

Odznaczenia wręczył członek Prezydium Zarządu Wojewódzkiego ZOSP RP w Poznaniu dh Grzegorz Marszałek i Prezes OSP Poniec dh Józef Kluczyk.
W uroczystościach wzięły udział delegacje strażaków ochotników z OSP z terenu gminy Poniec, gminy Bojanowo oraz z zaprzyjaźnionej miejscowości Punitz w Republice Austrii. Impreza zakończyła się defiladą pododdziałów OSP i wspólny posiłek wszystkich uczestników uroczystości.
